Development assurance

Where the model earns its keep in ARP4754B development

SAE ARP4754B guides how civil aircraft and systems are developed: requirements captured, validated, allocated and verified, with every step traceable. A SysML model is the natural place to keep that trace.

Requirements with their reasons

Every requirement carries its source and rationale, and derived requirements are flagged so they reach your safety assessment.

Clean handoff to items

Hardware and software item requirements go to your DO-254 and DO-178C teams with the trace back to aircraft functions intact.

Change you can see coming

When a requirement changes, the model shows what it touches: the design that satisfies it and the tests that verify it.

What we do for aerospace programs

The modeling work behind an aircraft or spacecraft program

We work inside CATIA Magic / Cameo on your conventions and your schedule, alongside your engineers or on your behalf.

Requirements

Requirement flow-down and validation

Aircraft, system and item requirements in one model, each with a source, a rationale and a trace.

  • Derived requirements identified
  • Satisfy and verify coverage matrices
  • Requirements imported from DOORS or spreadsheets

Architecture

Architecture and interfaces

Functional, logical and physical architecture, with interfaces modeled once and shown as the ICDs your suppliers need.

  • Black-box and white-box views
  • Connector, harness and pin-level modeling
  • Signals and flows checked for compatibility

Budgets

Mass, power and performance budgets

Rollups and parametric models that recalculate when the design changes, instead of a spreadsheet that drifts.

  • Mass and power rollups across the product tree
  • Parametric constraints solved in Cameo
  • Trade studies between design options

Behavior

Modes, states and simulation

Operating modes and state machines you can simulate in Cameo before hardware exists.

  • Mode and state machine models
  • Power and resource use by state
  • Executable scenarios for reviews

Safety links

Models your safety team can use

Functions linked to the failure conditions in your safety assessment, so safety-driven requirements stay traceable.

  • Functions mapped to failure conditions
  • Safety requirements traced to design
  • Change impact visible to the safety team

Your team

Train the engineers who keep the model

The same senior modelers teach your engineers SysML and Cameo, so the program doesn't depend on us.

  • Private cohorts on your schedule
  • Labs built on a program-like model
  • Bundles with any engagement

ARP4754B integral processes

What the model holds for each process

We set the model up so the evidence each process needs is a query, not a spreadsheet someone has to rebuild before every review.

ProcessWhat lives in the modelWhat we set up
Requirements captureAircraft, system and item requirements with source and rationale.Requirement types and custom columns, imports from DOORS or spreadsheets, derived-requirement flags.
Requirements validationEvidence that each requirement is correct and complete: its source, its parent and its reviewer.Validation status fields, review tables, gap reports for requirements with no source.
Safety assessmentLinks from functions to failure conditions and from safety requirements to design.Profiles for failure conditions, trace from safety requirements to the elements that satisfy them.
Implementation verificationA verify relationship from every requirement to its test, analysis or inspection.Verify coverage matrices, verification method fields, reports of unverified requirements.
Configuration managementWhich design and tests a requirement change touches.Change-impact tables, requirement change tracking, baselines in Teamwork Cloud.

The model holds the trace; your certification plan decides what counts. Certification credit is agreed between your program and the certification authority. We build the model so the evidence your plan calls for is easy to produce.

SysML architecture for a next-generation communications system

SysMLICD viewsPDR → CDR
Challenge
The program owed the government a SysML architecture model with CDRL compliance tables at PDR.
Approach
We built the logical and physical architecture, allocations, black-box and white-box ICD views and configuration item models.
Result
Every CDRL requirement met at PDR, with no technical rebuttals at government review. A second increment carried the model through CDR.

Commercial · advanced hardware

System modeling for a fast-moving hardware team

SysMLCameoRepeat POs
Challenge
A hardware company wanted SysML applied to a domain with no ready-made examples to copy.
Approach
Senior modelers worked in increments under purchase orders, applying SysML to their domain and leaving patterns their engineers could reuse.
Result
Repeat purchase orders across multiple increments.
CameoMagic provided insightful guidance and demonstrated a deep understanding of SysML. They applied it to our domain with ease and efficiency, making the whole process seamless.
Kevin Bagnall · consulting client
Their speed, deep model knowledge, and practical guidance allowed us to deliver a high-quality system model on time, which was ultimately accepted by the government.

Questions

Aerospace program questions

Do you do DO-178C or DO-254 compliance?

No. We model the aircraft, system and item requirements and hand item requirements to your software and hardware teams with the trace intact. Those teams and your certification specialists own DO-178C and DO-254 compliance.

Does a SysML model count as certification evidence?

It can hold the trace and data your evidence is drawn from. What counts is set by the certification plan your program agrees with the authority, and we build the model to fit that plan.

Do you work with eVTOL, UAS and new-space teams?

Yes. Small teams often need a working model before they can hire a modeling group. Hour blocks let us start small and your engineers learn as the model grows.

Do you support space programs?

Yes. The same requirement, architecture and verification modeling supports the SRR, PDR and CDR reviews used on space programs.

Can you work with export-controlled data?

Tell us up front. We work on unclassified, non-CUI material today and scope export-controlled work around what your program allows.

Which tools do you work in?

CATIA Magic and Cameo Systems Modeler, Teamwork Cloud, DOORS and Jira integration, and SysML v2 tools.

Starting a new vehicle or a certification program?

Start with a free 30-minute model review. Bring your model, or just your plan, and leave with three to five fixes you can act on that week. It is also the fastest way to a written quote.
