What is the difference between the Integrated Model Manager tools?
What is an Integrated Model Manager?
An Integrated Model Manager will act as a broker between data repositories within the Digital Engineering Environment. The Integrated Model Manager will act as the hub while the other Digital Engineering tools will act as the spokes. The Integrated Model Manager will be connected/linked to each of the software tools. This connection will require data transformations and mappings. The Integrated Model Manager will be responsible for pushing and pulling from software to software and version control of the entire digital environment.
What are the different integrated model manager tools available on the market?
1. Syndeia (https://intercax.com/products/syndeia/)
"Syndeia is the digital thread platform for model-based engineering. It enables engineering teams to collaboratively and concurrently develop and manage a digital thread for any complex system/product by federating models and data from diverse ecosystems of modeling and simulation tools, enterprise applications, and data repositories. This diverse set of tools and repositories include, for example, SysML modeling tools (e.g. MagicDraw, Rhapsody), PLM systems (e.g. Teamcenter, Windchill), CAD systems (e.g. NX, Creo), ALM systems (e.g. GitHub, JIRA), Project Management Systems (e.g. JIRA), Requirements Management Systems (e.g. Jama, DOORS-NG), Simulation tools (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink), Databases (e.g. MySQL), and other data sources (e.g. RESTful APIs). Syndeia provides a rich set of services for building, managing, analyzing, querying, and visualizing the digital thread of the product/system through its lifecycle. Syndeia builds on a variety of open standards (e.g. REST/HTTP, JDBC, JSON, STEP, OSLC, and FMI), open-source projects and libraries, and production-ready APIs."
2. SBE Vision (https://www.sbevision.com/)
"SBE Vision develops cutting-edge interoperability software that sets the standard for managing engineering data across complex product and program organizations. With continuous development of the SBE platform including new features scheduled for each upcoming release, SBE Vision will expand upon our powerful tools that transform the world’s most complex product development processes."
3. eQube (https://www.equbecompliance.com/, https://www.1eq.com/products_eqube-mi)
"EQube’s comprehensive compliance solutions provide innovative tools to make daily compliance tasks faster and easier than ever before."
eQube is a software platform for managing and tracking product development. It provides an easy-to-use interface for managing product requirements, version control, and project status. It also allows users to collaborate with stakeholders, track tasks, and generate reports.
4. 3DS (https://www.3ds.com/)
"3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) is a business and innovation platform that provides organizations with a holistic, real-time vision of their business activity and ecosystem. It connects people, ideas, data and solutions in a single collaborative environment empowering businesses – from startups to large enterprises, to innovate, produce and trade in entirely new ways.
The platform acts as a single version of the truth to anchor outcome-based processes and capture all activities in one place. It securely connects individuals, teams, departments and external collaborators working together to transform ideas into innovative products, services and experiences."
How are these tools similar?
All four of these tools are cloud-based software solutions that are used to help companies manage the data and processes associated with product lifecycle management (PLM). They are all designed to facilitate collaboration between departments, streamline product development, and improve the overall efficiency of the product lifecycle. Each of these tools offers a unique set of features, but all four have the same basic purpose of helping companies manage their PLM processes. Additionally, each use the hub-and-spoke archetecture.
How are these tools different?
3DS is expensive and best for complex/large design efforts. SBE Vision is intended for long term duration and has extensive setup and ontology knowledge. Syndeia is good for smaller/medium sized projects and has a focus on the SysML perspective. eQube focuses on data as a service. It allows you flexibility to customize your dashboard extensivly.
