Welcome to our website, a comprehensive resource for Digital Engineering (DE), Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML, and Cameo. Our goal is to provide the guidance and tools you need to navigate your DE projects, from the initial planning phase to steady state.

Whether you are new to DE or an experienced practitioner, our website provides valuable information, resources, and examples to help you develop, deploy, and manage your DE projects successfully. We understand that DE can be complex, and MBSE, SysML, and Cameo are powerful but often challenging tools. That's why we have curated the most relevant and useful content, making it easy for you to find the resources you need to succeed.

Our website is your go-to resource for all things DE and MBSE. We provide comprehensive information about the latest trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in DE and MBSE, along with in-depth tutorials and step-by-step guides to help you navigate these complex topics. Our resources cover a range of topics, including SysML diagrams, behavioral modeling, and requirement management.

We invite you to explore our website and learn how our tools and resources can help you achieve success in your DE and MBSE projects. Whether you are a modeler, engineer, or project manager, our website has something for everyone. With our guidance, you can confidently tackle even the most complex DE and MBSE projects, ensuring that your organization stays ahead of the curve in this rapidly evolving field.

Site Context & Scope

Welcome to our website dedicated to providing clarity and guidance on implementing Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Cameo/MagicDraw for digital engineering (DE) projects. The scope of our website includes providing educational resources and practical examples to help professionals effectively implement these tools and practices.

Our website addresses the problem of confusion within the industry regarding the implementation of MBSE and Cameo/MagicDraw. This confusion often leads to teams feeling lost and unsure about what to do next. Our resource aims to provide a clear vision and roadmap for those who are stuck in this cycle of uncertainty.

Our intended audience includes systems engineers, designers, architects, managers, and domain-specific engineers working on Department of Defense (DoD) programs using Cameo/MagicDraw and Agile practices. Although our primary focus is on DoD programs, commercial applications and engineers using other SysML tools can also benefit from our website. We hope that our website will serve as a valuable resource to guide professionals in their MBSE and Cameo/MagicDraw implementations, and ultimately lead to successful digital engineering projects.

Circular Questioning: Leadership asks What Can you do? System's Engineers asks What do you want?

MBSE = Methodology + Language + Tool

To establish a successful MBSE implementation within a company or organization, it is essential to reach a consensus among leaders regarding a standardized methodology, language, and tool to be used company-wide.

MBSE

To have your organization transition to Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), you must have a specified design methodology, language, and tool.

We suggest having a common methodology, language, and tool throughout your organization as your organization will be somewhat disjoint if you have not selected the same methodology, language, and tool throughout due to incompatibility issues.  This page will walkthrough the different alternatives available quickly and explain why we down-selected to a Homegrown Methodology, the SysML Language, and Cameo as the tool.

A Phased Approach to Architecture

We have outlined all of the aspects which need to be considered when transitioning a model from a blank slate to a fully working model.  The aspects have been broken down into 3 phases with steps within each phase.  We aim to explain the reasons behind our guidance at each phase and for each step within each phase for all levels of depth.

This 50,000 ft view explaining the fundamental steps will discuss strategic plans and a general vision.  The intended reader would be a product owner/manager leading the team with the desire to build a model from scratch.

Best Architectural Practices & Design Lessons Learned

This page is a collection of best practices & lessons learned from MBSE practitioners working in MagicDraw/Cameo modeling applications.   This content s meant for all personnel from high level project managers to low level individual contributors.  This will help you critically think through the problem and why we are on the path we are on.  It will help you avoid common pitfalls and rabbit holes to allow your team to maintain a steady velocity.
